It’s our last night at home as we get ready for our trek! Most of the packing is done, and it’s really about double-checking what we packed to avoid that feeling of leaving things behind. We have a lot of days with some pretty awesome hiking to do, Tara is pretty geared out for this kind of stuff having gone to Peru and Australia. Myself on the other hand… lacking a few things, purchased a Platypus bladder.
My intent is to snap a lot of photos on this trip, so I wanted a pack that could hold my camera and water bladder. After a lot of research it turns out those don’t exist. I guess serious photographers don’t want water near their gear, go figure! Water is kind of a necessity, so time for a little creativity. I figured out that I could re-purpose the tripod holder and the top strap to hold water bladder in place. I got some extra straps to make sure it was solid and made it work… I present my Hydration CamPak!!
Having water near my camera gear is not lost on me and with this design if the bag leaks it will be on the outside of my camera bag. The biggest flaw is that I will likely be drinking warm water as the bladder will be exposed to the sun.
Kickstarter idea! Camera bag with a completely self-contained water proof section that can hold a 2 litre water bladder.
